Six More and Counting

Seven more resorts are scheduled to open this week, meaning that by Friday more than half of the Colorado Ski Country member resorts will be open for skiing and riding.

Steamboat will again open early to support the local Winter Sports Club by donating ticket sales to a Scholarship fund. Since 1991-92, Scholarship Day has raised nearly $740,000. This fund provides financial support for deserving local children participating in Club programs.

Crested Butte 2011-12 first chair

Crested Butte is also opening Wednesday, dishing out free lift tickets. Every skier and rider is eligible to ski free this Wednesday, November 21, 2012. Simply stop by the main ticket office at the Adventure Center to receive your free ticket and enjoy the early season slopes at Crested Butte Mountain Resort.

Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, and Telluride will kick off winter operations on Thanksgiving Day. Celebrate opening day in Aspen on Thursday, and then make sure to stick around to enjoy the FIS Alpine World Cup and the first Bud Light Hi-Fi Free Concert on Saturday, November 24. Or, if you’re looking to get away from the city lights, take a trip down to Telluride. Great early season rates and specials could make Telluride the perfect place to spend this Thanksgiving.

Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort will cap off the Thanksgiving opening day madness on Friday. The resort announced this week that they will operate on a weekends only schedule until conditions allow for a full time operating schedule.
