“I know this is worth it for my community,” said Shannon, as he explained how Ski Noir 5280 has a waiting list of more than 300 people for each weekend ski day they plan, including a number of out-of-state visitors who visit Colorado specifically to join one of the group’s events. He says the group’s gear rental model is “pay what you think it’s worth and what you can afford.”
Shannon and other group members meticulously plan every event, from where they go to booking group ski tickets, hiring a bus big enough for 50+ people and all their snow gear, and, crucially, making sure the après-ski party is hopping, with the right vibe and music—he is a DJ, after all.
Ski Noir 5280 has held events at a number of CSCUSA member resorts, including Arapahoe Basin, Aspen Snowmass, Copper Mountain, Eldora, Loveland, and Winter Park.
