What two things are every skier and snowboarder looking for each fall? Two elements that seemingly guarantee an incredible season, that we'll do nearly anything to acquire? Each fall the Colorado Convention Center hosts the state's biggest pre-season bash. The Expo invites folks to check out dozens of equipment manufacturers, retailers, ski resorts, and cool activities. If you're looking to score deals on gear and apparel you simply can't miss it. Retailers are blowing out goodies from last year, but you've got to get there early while the getting's good.
This was my first trip to the Expo and I was excited to find that it's not just about stocking up on gear and lift tickets. There is a lot to actually do at the Expo. The whole convention hall is filled with cool activities centered around getting kids involved in snowsports. The most popular attraction was probably the slackline, which was a lot trickier than it looks.
Kids also made laps on an obstacle course and a mini ski hill complete with white toothbrush "snow". Perhaps most impressive however was the mountainboarding. This is a very cool sport, and a natural compliment to snowboarding. Every few hours the professionals would put on a demo, after which they'd offer free lessons to kids. You can't help but be pumped up for ski season when you're surrounded by all the gear, the resorts, and all the other skiers & boarders. Oh, did I mention the Expo's a great place to find discounted tickets? Just sayin'... I went, and now I'm hooked. See y'all at the Expo next year.
