As the Ski Season Wraps Up, Let’s Look Forward to Summer

With the current state of the COVID-19 Pandemic impacting ski areas around Colorado, we can’t help but be bummed that we weren’t able to ski during arguably the best time to ski in Colorado. Restrictions surrounding COVID-19 are easing ever so slightly and that means that winter ski areas will turn into summer playgrounds. There are so many activities that many of your favorite Colorado ski areas still have to offer in the summertime. So, if you’re a Colorado resident or a tourist from afar, there’s plenty of things to do here in the mountains where you can still have some safe fun with gorgeous views. The list of things to do is endless, including alpine slides, dining, miscellaneous events, golfing, mountain biking, riding a mountain coaster, scenic lift rides, shopping, water activities, wellness activities and more.

A few of the ski areas include just a couple of these options while others have the ability to offer a more all-inclusive experience. If you’re looking for a one-stop-shop to do a lot of these outdoor activities, I would consider making Arapahoe Basin, Aspen Mountain, Copper Mountain, Purgatory, Snowmass, Steamboat, Telluride or Winter Park your destination of choice.  Steamboat and Copper Mountain both offer 10 activities, both of which exclude the alpine slide.

However, just because a few of those resorts including Cooper, Howelsen Hill, Kendall Mountain and Sunlight don’t have an extensive list of options, they all bring incredible scenic views and have exciting events throughout the summer, so they’re not to be overlooked. The point is, a lot of people in Colorado and elsewhere have the misconception that once these resorts and ski areas close their ski operations, then they just shut down for the summer. This is not the case! Obviously, if you’re interested in participating in any of these activities, you’ll have to look into their specific safety measures to make sure you’re adhering and keeping everyone around you safe, but there’s so much mountain fun to be had in the coming summer months.

Colorado Ski Country wants to make sure you’re aware of your options when it comes to planning a trip to Colorado’s ski areas. Make sure you look into the specific resort you’re looking to go to so you can be prepared for what awaits! Click here to see a full list of all activities that are offered at ski areas during the summertime and enjoy the fresh Colorado mountain air.

Cheers to this summer and all the adventure that’s left to be had!

He was born in Glenwood Springs and grew up skiing in the roaring fork valley. Being active and exploring the outdoors has always been a huge priority to him – everything from skiing, basketball, mountain biking, hiking, and more have all been hobbies of his for as long as he can remember. Early in his education, he discovered a passion for writing and so when the opportunity came along to both ski and write, he was ecstatic. After graduation, he hopes to still be able to pursue a career in which he can combine his passion for writing and the outdoors, but is still figuring out what the future holds. For now, he is looking forward to making the most out of his ski season with Colorado Ski Country.
