In Colorado Ski Country USA, we don’t rest on our laurels—and our laurels include North America’s longest-running ski area, several of the world’s bucket list destinations, and a snow sports legacy that dates back over a century.
Our 20 member resorts continue to roll out improvements and debut exciting new amenities for skiers and snowboarders, and the 2024–25 season is no exception.
Visit Colorado Ski Country USA this winter, and you’ll find new lifts that move guests around mountains faster, shortening liftlines and expanding access to all types of terrain; the return of legacy events and the launch of a host of new festivals, competitions, and special experiences; updates to rental fleets and remodeled eateries; and evidence everywhere of our resorts’ commitment to keeping their operations energy efficient and earth-friendly.

Monarch Mountain celebrates 85 years of independence this season. Happy Birthday to our most majestic member resort!
Terrain
Teams at Monarch worked over the summer to construct an access road, extend powerlines, and clear trails in the expansion area known as No Name Basin. This development will introduce 377 acres of primarily intermediate to advanced skiable terrain on the west side of the Continental Divide; it is scheduled to open in the 2025–26 ski season.
Sustainability
This summer, as part a larger effort to preserve and enhance the natural resources at the heart of the resort, Powderhorn completed the cleanup and recycling of 20,00 pounds of steel waste.
Infrastructure
Visitors to Purgatory who plan to rent equipment will be able to enjoy skiing and riding on new skis and snowboards. The resort also increased parking and installed self-service ticket pickup boxes that will put snow lovers where they want to be—that is, on the slopes—faster than ever.

This year will be the Wild Blue Gondola’s first complete season. Wild Blue gives skiers and snowboarders access to Steamboat’s Sunshine Bowl, where recently expanded, energy efficient snowmaking systems will mean that some of the most popular terrain maintains consistent snow coverage.

New RFID cards that streamline the ticketing process will enable Sunlight guests to get to the slopes faster this season.
