    Disc Golf

Enjoy FREE rounds of disc golf at Arapahoe Basin this summer! Explore our par 3, nine-hole course, starting in the base area and looping around the lower mountain. Follow our footpath for a rolling course and fun hike spanning nearly 2 miles. All holes are par 3; you can view the yardage below. The course is open seven days a week once the snow melts!

A sanctioned disc golf tournament is tentatively scheduled for August 1, 2019.

Please note: The disc golf course will be closed to the public during the A-Basin Disc Golf Tournament, September 7 & 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

    Yoga

Arapahoe Basin offers twice-weekly yoga sessions throughout the summer on the beautiful third-floor deck of The Perch (A-Frame, base area). Check out our one-hour sessions on Fridays and Sundays, June 28 - September 15, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. - noon.

Join us July 11 for yoga on the mountain. Hike up the main trail to the scenic deck of the Black Mountain Lodge at mid-mountain. More info coming soon, or give us a call at 888-ARAPAHOE.

    Hiking

Arapahoe Basin has a little over six miles of hiking trails and one route to the top of its lift-served terrain. The Argentine North Fork Trail is 1.8 miles of singletrack ascending 750 feet to mid-mountain. During your hike, you will cross beneath the Black Mountain Express lift and over the north fork of the Snake River.

From the Black Mountain Lodge at mid-mountain, a steeper, primitive service road takes hikers another 1.5 miles to 12,500 feet (2,000 feet above the base area) and panoramic mountain views. A strong hiker can then descend 2,168 feet off the backside of the mountain on the 3.3-mile Lenawee Trail, ending at County Road 260/Peru Creek Road. It’s steep; it’s rocky and it requires a shuttle or a full day to hike back out.

Another option for hikers is to hike along the nine-hole disc golf course. The course loops around the lower mountain with a distance of approximately 1.6 miles.

The hiking at A-Basin is steep and high-elevation, but it’s worth the effort for the scenery and the feeling of seclusion. Hikers are treated to breathtaking views with every step as they ascend through pine trees up to open meadows of wildflowers and an uninterrupted backdrop of mountains blanketed in bright green. Visitors can quickly feel like they’re away from it all thanks to A-Basin’s more remote setting apart from multiple roads and towns.

Trails are open to hikers, mountain bikers, and well-behaved animals. Please pick up after your pet! Poop bags are available in the base area; please be sure to grab one before your hike.

Arapahoe Basin is situated on U.S. Forest Service land and must adhere to USFS regulations. While the land is open to public exploration, there are several ecologically-sensitive areas that are best left undisturbed. Please consider the potential impacts to the environment before venturing off-trail.

    Guided Wildflower Hikes

Arapahoe Basin offers guided wildflower hikes in the summer on Sundays and Mondays. Summer 2019 dates are as follows: 7.7, 7.15, 7.21,7.29, 8.5, 8.11, 8.19. The hikes utilize the Black Mountain Express lift on Sundays and hike from mid-mountain. On Mondays, the hikes begin from the base area. More info coming soon, or give us a call at 888-ARAPAHOE.

  • Mountain Biking

    Mountain Biking

    Mountain Biking

    Mountain Biking

Arapahoe Basin currently has one trail open to mountain biking. While it’s not for the faint-hearted or the beginner, it’s a must-do for serious mountain bikers. The Argentine North Fork Trail is 1.8 miles of singletrack ascending 750 feet to mid-mountain. From there, a primitive service road takes riders another 1.5 miles to 12,500 feet and panoramic mountain views.

From there, a skilled backcountry rider can descend the 3.3-mile, black-diamond Lenawee Trail down into A-Basin’s Montezuma Bowl, ending at County Road 260/Peru Creek Road. From there, they could connect to additional trails and dirt road riding, if so desired. Lenawee is steep; it’s technical and it requires a shuttle or a big loop with significant time spent pedaling on roads. But it’s worth it the adventure!

    • There is no lift-accessed mountain biking
    • eMTBs (electric-assist mountain bikes) are not allowed on A-Basin trails due to U.S. Forest Service regulations
    • New cross-country mountain biking trails will be built over the coming summers. Stay tuned to A-Basin for more details!
    • Join us for the kids' Strider bike races, July 6 and 20, August 3!

Summer at Arapahoe Basin offers an opportunity to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of a remote, high-alpine mountain setting while not being far away from a delicious bacon bloody Mary and house-smoked BBQ. A-Basin in the summer is peaceful, scenic and casual. You don't have to go far to feel completely surrounded by mountains and away from it all. While we're known for having the longest ski/snowboard season in Colorado, we also have a summer full of family-friendly events, bluebird skies and clear air. Bring your camera, your discs, your hiking shoes and your appetite for great food and drink.

In Steamboat's The Land Up, you can hike among wildflowers, or race on our mountain bike trails. You can scream down a mountain coaster, jump on a bungee trampoline, test your courage on our challenge course, or scale a climbing wall. Here surrounded by beauty, you and your family will find summer fun of all kinds. Because this isn’t just anywhere. This is The Land Up.
