When thousands of people across the country say “you’re the best,” you feel pretty good. Today, you could say Winter Park Resort’s stoke level is off the charts, because for a second year in a row, USA Today readers named the ski resort the best in North America. Winter Park beat out nine other North American resorts for the coveted title.
Every year USA Today’s ski and adventure travel experts curate a top 10 list of the best ski resorts in North America. Then, they turn over voting to readers, who choose their favorite after a month of public voting.
Winter Park Resort has long been a favorite of adventure travelers and those wanting to Venture Out because of its wide and varied terrain for every skier and rider ability level, and its decidedly unpretentious, authentic Colorado vibe. The resort is close enough to Denver to make it convenient for day-trippers or destination visitors traveling from the airport, yet it’s tucked away just west of the Continental Divide, giving guests a true mountain experience.
“We’re thrilled to be named North America’s best ski resort, especially by readers of USA Today. Readers represent our guests across the country, and our top priority is to make sure every guest has an amazing time, no matter what adventure they choose. Whether they ski or snowboard, tube or snowshoe, or are really good at après, we’re honored they chose Winter Park as their favorite,” said Liz Agostin, Winter Park Resort director of marketing.
Winter Park Resort just kicked off its 80th season, making it Colorado’s oldest, continuously running ski resort. Including Mary Jane, which opened for the season this morning, Nov. 29, the resort offers more than 3,000 acres of skiable terrain with 21 chairlifts. With a base elevation of 9,000 feet and a 3,060-foot vertical rise, the mountain averages more than 313 inches of annual snow fall, giving visitors access to miles of groomers, cruisers, steeps, deeps, trees and glades.
