Spring skiing is much more than an activity, it’s a state of mind, and Winter Park Resort is once again going to fully immerse guests in all that makes springtime in the Rockies so special with “Spring Bash + Splash,” which consists of four jam-packed weekends of events and free giveaways beginning on March 30 and continuing through April.
The celebration kicks off in style on March 30 with the return of TheBigWonderful Beerfest, featuring Colorado breweries with delicious beer to sample and over 20 other area purveyors at the Winter Park base. Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 day-of and can be purchased at https://www.winterparkresort.com/things-to-do/events/spring-bash-plus-splash. Woodshed Red and The Lil Smokies will also perform a free concert at the base for the public (TheBigWonderful ticket not required). It’s also the final weekend of the season for Winter Park Express train service from Denver, giving visitors an alternative to driving I-70 and another reason to cut loose.
April 6 is time to break out the beach attire with “Beach Weekend,” which will include a luau at Sunspot, an on-snow Spikeball Tournament at the base, and to really get people in a beachy mood, a free live performance by Jerry Diaz & Hanna’s Reef, a Jimmy Buffet cover band.
Dust off the cowboy boots and get the chaps out of storage on April 13 for “Country Weekend,” featuring a free live country music concert from Buckstein, the annual High Noon Duel snowboarding competition, line dancing and mechanical bull-riding.
Finally, the month wraps up with the 51st annual Spring Splash Pond Skim, the grand-daddy of all pond skims, as part of “’80s Weekend” on April 20-21. In addition to Colorado’s longest-running pond skim on Sunday, Saturday will feature a “Barcade” with classic arcade games like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Centipede, 80’s costume contest, and free concert by ‘80s cover band The Goonies. On Sunday, Winter Park will also celebrate Easter with its annual kid’s Easter egg hunt in the Village.
