As you all well know, we here at Colorado Ski Country USA love our Colorado winters. We salivate over the season. So when days like today happen – in early October – we know we need to spread the message.
The day began with folks waking up to fresh snow falling in the Colorado high country, serving to tease skiers and snowboarders. With Opening Day inching its way closer, Colorado Ski Country USA resorts not only woke up to snow, but spent the entire day watching the sky unload on their home mountains.
And as if seeing snow wasn’t enough, Copper Mountain started making snow last night – the first resort to do so. Loveland’s snowmaking efforts started at 2:00 p.m. today, while Arapahoe Basin, a perennial Opening Day challenger, has intimated there is a high probability they will begin making snow tonight.
Oh, and speaking of competitions, we should probably throw out there that Telluride, at the time of writing, has recieved 12 inches. Yep, a full foot at mid-mountain. But ultimately showcasing their favor with the snow-gods, Wolf Creek topped them with 15 inches. Keep on dreaming skiers and riders, we’re almost there. Until next time, we’ll leave you with our favorite image from today:
