The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) will host the 40th Annual Wells Fargo Ski Cup (WFSC) on Feb. 20 – 22 at Winter Park Resort. This event is the largest fundraiser for the NSCD, bringing in more than $215,000 to support therapeutic recreation summer and winter programs for children and adults with disabilities. This year several NSCD athletes, who competed in Sochi on the U.S. Winter Paralympic team, plan to race this weekend including: Alana Nichols, Jamie Stanton and Tyler Carter.

The weekend boasts three races: the Corporate Cup, a Pro Am style race where teams of five friends, family or coworkers are paired with an NSCD Competition Center athlete and compete for prizes; the Kids Snowplow Sprint, which features up-and-coming NSCD athletes and able-bodied young skiers; and the World Disabled Invitational.

This is a big year for all of us because we are celebrating the Wells Fargo Ski Cups 40th Anniversary, Winter Park Resorts 75th Anniversary and the NSCDs 45th Anniversary, said Becky Zimmermann, president and CEO of NSCD. We are very grateful for Wells Fargo and Winter Park Resorts support, their contributions have helped thousands of individuals with disabilities participate in the NSCD programs over the years.

Other festivities throughout the weekend include the Aprs Ski Bash, a two-day silent auction, visit from Denver Bronco Alumni and cheerleaders and live entertainment. Its easy for the general public join in on the activities by signing up for Ski for NSCD. This on-line fundraiser rewards the public with Winter Park Resort lift tickets and season passes for raising, awareness and funds for a good cause. People who register can easily create their own website page to email out to family and friends who can then donate in the person’s name.
