In addition to hundreds of amateurs representing scores of age groups, the top professionals from all over the country will also flock to USA Cycling’s MTB National Championships, giving spectators an opportunity to witness up close some of the sport’s best. Scheduled to compete in Enduro are Seamus Powell, a four-time National Champion across multiple disciplines, as well as Porsha Murdock, who comes to Winter Park looking to defend her 2018 women’s Enduro crown. The fan-favorite Dual Slalom event will feature a number of well-known pros including Mitch Ropelato on the men’s side and Caroline Washam, who is looking to breakthrough after three consecutive second-place National Championship finishes on the women’s side. Howard Grotts, Russell Finsterwald, Haley Batten, and Rose Grant, who have multiple National Championships between them, will be among the Cross-Country competitors. Currently, there are over 970 riders participating in over 1,500 race starts in Downhill, Enduro, Dual Slalom, Cross-Country, and Short Track Cross-Country.
With an event of this scale, volunteers are a necessity and there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved. Every volunteer will receive lunch and a USA Cycling commemorative t-shirt, plus choice of volunteer compensation: one Winter Park Resort lift ticket for every six hours worked or community service hours, offered thanks to a partnership with Winter Park Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce. Winter Park Resort lift tickets are valid until December 31, 2021 and may be used for Trestle Bike Park, summer activities, or winter lift tickets.
