The Winter Park Competition Center will host its 28th Annual Ski and Snowboard Swap Friday, October 12, from 5-9 pm and Saturday, October 13, from 9 am-6 pm located in West Portal Station at the base of Winter Park Resort. All proceeds benefit the Winter Park Competition Center and the Winter Park Ski Education Foundation.
This event will offer all snow sport fanatics a chance to save on goods provided by individuals and vendors liquidating last years stock at up to 75% off. The event is open to the public and costs just $3/person or $8/family on Friday, and no charge on Saturday. The swap will feature skis, snowboards, boots, bindings, helmets, and apparel. This event features clothing and equipment perfect for children and adults. Jeff Burrows, Competition Center Director said that the Ski and Snowboard Swap offers deep discounts on gear and apparel from nearly a dozen vendors and numerous individuals. The Ski and Snowboard Swap is also a terrific opportunity for individuals to consign gently used equipment to make room in the closet for the new toys they pick up at Swap. In addition to being able to purchase new equipment, individuals may also sell their gently used equipment and apparel. All brands are welcome; from Burton, Marmot, and Volkl to local Rocky Mountain region shops and vendors.
Individual items must be dropped off at West Portal Station between 10am-3pm on Friday, October 12th. 20% of individual sales are retained by the Competition Center. Individual sale forms can be downloaded online at www.wpcompcenter.com.
The Competition Center offers season-long competitive youth and adult programs in Alpine Racing, Freestyle Moguls, Freeski Big Mountain, Freeski Park & Pipe, Snowboard-All Mountain, Snowboard-Park & Pipe, and All-Terrain Ski Programs. This event is an important annual fundraiser for the Winter Park Competition Center, serving as a benefit for the youth competitors enrolled in our ski and snowboard programs. Swap weekend provides a great opportunity to get coach input before buying new equipment, learn about our ski and snowboard programs, meet our coaches, and register for our 2012/13 programs said Burrows. The Winter Park Competition Center will offer information sessions for new, prospective, and returning members on Saturday, October 13.
