Now in its 18th year, the Powerade Pinnacle Mountain Bike Race Series continues to be a summer staple at Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR). The Evolution Bike Park offers the perfect race venue, allowing both cross-country and downhill events for dirt racing enthusiasts of all kinds. The weekly race series begins July 1, 2015 and continues over five consecutive Wednesday evenings through July 29.

Thanks to a continued partnership with Griggs Orthopedics, each race is free for all riders; cross-country, downhill and kids along with free food, drinks, and raffle prizes after each race. The focus is to continue to grow mountain bike racing in the Gunnison Valley, while enhancing the development of riders throughout the region in both the gravity and endurance disciplines.

Griggs Orthopedics (gO) is dedicated to health, fitness and athletic development of all ages and skills. CBMR offers the perfect terrain including new trails and a fun & challenging environment for riders of all abilities to hone these skillswe see increases in fitness and riders have a great time racing the clock, themselves or other riders to gauge progress. By providing free entry and lots of options & formats for all levels, we hope to continue to see this series grow and become a fun summer event for the entire family, explains Rhett Griggs, owner of Griggs Orthopedics.

Each week, riders can participate in the cross country or downhill race with age and ability categories. The Kids race gives the younger rippers the chance to test their balance on bumps and berms, whether on a regular bike or a pedal-less kick bike. The kids race starts at 5:15 p.m. each Wednesday to allow parents time to watch their little ones cruise through the course, followed by the cross country and downhill races at 5:45 p.m. An overall series winner will be announced at the final awards party on July 29 and will be based on the individuals participation in each discipline.

Registration will be held at Butte 66 from 4:30 until 5:15 p.m. Awards will take place after the races on the Butte 66 deck with free dinner, Powerade, and Bud Light (must be over 21 years of age) for participants. Prior to each weeks race, the courses will be announced at www.ridecb.com/pinnacle. Race results will be posted on Evolution Bike Park Facebook page the day after each race.
