Sunlight Opens for 54th Season of Operation with 3 Inches on its New Monolith!

Today Sunlight Mountain Resort started up the bull wheel on its 54th season of operation with skiing and riding off of its lower Tercero lift. About 100 skiers and riders came out for first chair.

Pictured here from left are Sedona Ditlow (10), Ashly Ditlow (mom), and Bristol Ditlow (12) of Carbondale. This is the fourth season in a row that the Ditlow trio has made First Chair at Sunlight’s opening day.

Skiers and riders were greeted with three new inches of snow on the mountain and free Sunny Pop craft soda’s for the first 100 skiers and riders. Sunlight’s Midway run is now open seven days a week from 9am to 4pm serving about 500 vertical feet with about an 8 to 12 inch base.

On Tuesday, we discovered a 7-foot monolith had been installed near our main trail map. Trail crews have since determined that the placement will not impede skier or rider traffic, and it will remain installed with a possible future as a snow stake.
