Summer Activities and Opening Days Across Colorado Ski Country

For many skiers and snowboarders, watching the snow melt from the slopes is a sad process. Luckily, the end of winter has a silver lining as Colorado ski areas host a full calendar of summer activities, festival and events to celebrate the warmer months of the year.

Summer is approaching quickly in Ski Country, and your favorite ski areas are hard at work getting the mountains ready for mountain biking, hiking, scenic sight-seeing and more.

Arapahoe Basin

Arapahoe Basin likes to joke that they’ll “open for summer when the snow melts and close when it starts to snow again.” More specifically, the mountain will open for summer operations on Friday, June 29 and close on Sunday, September 16.

A-Basin summer operations will include hiking, disc golf, scenic chairlift rides, dining, festivals, events and self-powered mountain biking. Find more information about summer at A-Basin here.

 

Aspen Snowmass

Aspen Snowmass will launch summer operations Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-28 at Aspen Mountain, and continue with weekend operations for June 2-3 and 9-10.

Daily operations on Aspen Mountain will officially kick-off Saturday, June 16 and run through Monday, September 3, with operations continuing weekends through Sunday, October 7. Snowmass summer operations will take place daily June 22 – September 3 and then continue weekends through September.

Aspen Snowmass summer operations will include the Breathtaker mountain coaster, mountain biking, zip lining, an obstacle course, a rock climbing course, hiking, disc golf, golf, scenic chairlift and gondola rides, kayaking, rafting, stand-up paddle boarding, Fishing, horse back riding, summer camping, ballooning and paragliding, yoga, dining, shopping, festivals, events and weddings.

Copper Mountain

Copper will begin summer operations on Friday, June 8 and close on Sunday, September 16.

Copper Mountain’s summer operations will include the Rocky Mountain coaster, zip lining, an obstacle course, a climbing wall, hiking, golf, go-karts, lake activities, yoga, dining, shopping, festivals, events, REI programming and weddings.

Crested Butte

Crested Butte will begin summer operations on Saturday, June 9 and conclude with the closing of the Trestle Bike Park on Sunday, October 7.

Crested Butte will offer a wide variety of activities this summer include mountain biking, an Adventure Park complete with bungee trampolines, BagJump, miniature golf and rock climbing, hiking, disc golf, zip lining, scenic chairlift rides, archery, dining, shopping, festivals, events and weddings. Granby Ranch

Granby Ranch will open for summer operations on Friday, May 25 and operate daily all summer through Sunday, September 30. Granby Ranch will offer mountain biking, hiking, golf, scenic chairlift rides, dining, festivals, events and weddings. 

 

Howelsen Hill

Howelsen doesn’t have any official opening and closing dates set for the summer, but most of the mountain bike trails are open now.

Howelsen will offer hiking, mountain biking and several community festivals and events this summer.

Kendall Mountain

Kendall will operate daily through the summer beginning on Friday, June 1 through Wednesday, October 31.

Kendall’s summer operations will include mountain biking, hiking, running, camping, festivals, events and weddings. Visit Kendall’s website for more information.

Powderhorn

Purgatory

Purgatory Resort will open daily for the summer on Saturday, May 26. The resort will be open for summer activities until mid-October.

Summer at Purgatory includes the brand new Inferno Mountain Coaster, alpine slide, mountain biking, zip lining, an obstacle course, summer tubing, bungee trampolines, a family ropes course, hiking, disc golf, scenic chairlift rides, stand-up paddle boarding, yoga, dining, shopping, festivals, events and weddings. Steamboat

Steamboat will begin summer operations on weekends starting Memorial Day Weekend (May 26-28). Steamboat will begin daily summer operations and open the bike park on Friday, June 15. Daily operations will continue until Monday, September 3 and then weekend operations will run until Sunday, October 14.

Steamboat summer operations will include the Outlaw mountain coaster, an alpine slide, mountain biking, zip lining, an obstacle course, hiking, disc golf, golf, scenic chairlift and gondola rides, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, yoga, dining, shopping, festivals, events and weddings.

Sunlight

Summer at Sunlight Mountain Resort will feature an extensive backcountry mountain biking trail network, hiking, a mountain disc golf course, festivals and events. For more information, visit Sunlight’s website

 

Telluride

At Telluride Ski Resort, the gondola will open back up on Thursday, May 24. The Telluride Golf Course opens Friday, May 25, and summer adventure activities begin Monday, June 11. Summer operations will continue until Sunday, Oct. 21.

This summer, Telluride will offer mountain biking, an obstacle course, hiking, disc golf, golf, scenic chairlift and gondola rides, 4WD and off-road tours, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, rafting, river tubing, rock climbing, mountaineering, horse-back riding, fly fishing, paragliding, a nature center, yoga, dining, shopping, festivals, events and weddings. Winter Park

Winter Park’s summer season will kick off on Saturday, June 16. The Trestle Bike Park will be open daily through Sunday, September 30, while the base activities will be open daily through Monday, September 3 and then continue operating on weekends only through Sunday, September 30.
