Steamboat Winter Opening Day

Celebrate The Start Of The Season With New Tradition

Cord9

The winter season is scheduled to begin at Steamboat Ski Resort on November 21, 2018. In a shift from previous opening days, the resort will welcome all valid passes including Ikon, Ikon Base, Steamboat only, regular lift tickets and more. There will not be specially priced lift tickets available this year. In place of Scholarship Day and specially priced lift tickets, the resort will donate $50,000 to the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Scholarship Fund.

“We recognize this is a transition from our regularly scheduled opening day. With the addition of the Ikon and Ikon Base, it no longer made sense to limit access on the first day of the season to just single day tickets,” said Rob Perlman, president and COO of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “Therefore, we worked directly with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club to find an alternative to the funds they historically collected on Scholarship Day. We’re proud to continue our support of the club through this donation, while still offering great Steamboat skiing and riding to passholders.”

“The resort has always been extremely supportive of the Winter Sports Club and we are thrilled to continue our involvement with the new opening day tradition,” said Jim Boyne, executive director for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. “What better way to kick off the start to the season than with a celebration of all things winter, which in Steamboat, of course, includes the Winter Sports Club and our incredible athletes.

Opening Day events begin on Wednesday, November 21 at 7:30 am, one hour prior to the lifts starting. The celebration includes a performance from the Ute Indian Tribe snow dancers, a toast to the season, the presentation of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Opening Day donation and more, all located in the heart of Gondola Square on the Steamboat Stage. Opening Day guests can enjoy complimentary Korbel mimosas and Champagne powder donuts from 7:30-8:30 am, and free Ohana designed t-shirts will be passed out to the first 100 skiers and riders. Additional shirts will be available for purchase in the base area with proceeds benefiting the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.

Lifts and trails scheduled for opening day will be determined by Monday, November 19. For up-to-date information on Steamboat Ski Resort — including open lifts and terrain, mountain conditions, forecasts, early season ticket prices, events, deals and packages — visit Steamboat.com.
