Steamboat Resort Scheduled to Open in 100 Days

unnamed

In 100 short days (11/21/2020), the mountain is scheduled to open. And we can all look forward to a season of skiing and riding, in Steamboat’s wide-open spaces. If there’s anything that can make us feel better, it’s finding ourselves on a trail, here at Steamboat, in the middle of nature.

A letter from Rob Perlman, President and COO of Steamboat Resort:

All of us at Steamboat know that there are countless questions about the upcoming winter ski season. While we wish we had more answers for you, we can assure you the health and safety of our employees, guests and community are foremost in every decision we make as we prepare for the 20/21 season.
Steamboat is dedicated to providing the same memorable mountain experiences this winter, as we have for the past 58 years. Winter is what brings us together. It is the season that defines us, that we are most passionate about and that we are looking forward to the most.

As regulations and guidelines change for our state and county, we continue to adapt. We have created protocols and procedures across the resort (including the mountain, base area and at the Steamboat Grand Hotel) that exceed the current guidelines and will update them as needed. Guests can read the complete details HERE.

While the winter season is still more than four months away, every day we are preparing, analyzing and planning for a variety of winter scenarios with considerations including social distancing, limited capacity and other appropriate responses to COVID-19. Using current guidelines as our foundation, we are working with the entire Alterra Mountain Company family to explore and develop systems, usable across the company’s portfolio of destinations, that make the mountains accessible. Below are just some of the ways we are preparing for new operations:

  • Advanced reservations systems for mountain access when necessary
  • Contactless ordering and payment at our restaurants and retail outlets
  • Reconfiguration of lift access along with maze management
  • Social distancing protocols including SnowSports School lesson sizes
  • Expanded outdoor dining options
  • Technology solutions to minimize person to person contact
  • Voluntary free COVID-19 testing available for employees
  • Partnerships with health entities and strategic alliances with resort partners for best practices for health and cleanliness getting to, arriving and while at Steamboat Ski Resort

Our goal is to assess solutions and fast track those ideas to do the absolute best to provide the winter vacations that are so important to all of us.
Steamboat has created resort-specific policies and protocols to help you book your vacation with confidence. Our Worry-Free Vacation policy provides flexible booking terms and the opportunity for a refund or credit should your trip to Steamboat Ski Resort be cancelled due to COVID-19 or travel restrictions. We have worked with our local lodging partners to extend this booking policy for any property booked through Steamboat Central Reservations and all of our Steamboat Ski Resort specific products including but not limited to lift tickets, Steamboat Sports rental equipment and SnowSports School lessons.

Our most significant discounts and rates of the season are available to book now with changes/cancellations available through November 2 for a full refund or credit, less a booking fee. After November 2, refunds will be available should the resort be closed due to COVID-19. For complete details on the Worry-Free Vacation policy, including airline tickets, non-Steamboat Ski Resort properties and activities, please visit HERE.

Ikon Pass now includes Adventure Assurance. Should a 20/21 Ikon Pass holder not use their pass after June 4, 2020 for any reason, they may elect, by April 11, 2021, to receive a full credit of their purchase price for their unused 20/21 Ikon Pass to be used toward a 21/22 Ikon Pass. In addition, starting September 10, 2020, Ikon Pass holders select a plan that works for them before October 1, 2020 that will provide them a credit in the event their Ikon Pass destination selection is closed due to an eligible COVID-19 event between December 10, 2020 and April 11, 2021.

These are just a few reassurances to help you plan a winter getaway to Steamboat. Meanwhile, we are committed to keeping our guests informed and updated about the steps we are taking to get us back on the mountain and reconnecting with the passion that fuels our souls.

Thank you in advance for following our COVID-19 protocol and policies while visiting the mountain and our community. We appreciate your support and understanding as we work to create the special experience you have come to expect from Steamboat Ski Resort.
