SolVista Basin Rolls Out National Cycling Competition

Here in Colorado Ski Country USA, biking is to summer as skiing is to winter. This will be clearly evident later in the month as SolVista Basin at Granby Ranch will host the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships, plus, this will be the first time the event is held in Colorado. Taking place July 16-19, thousands of professional and amateur racers will come to Colorado’s SolVista Basin to compete in the disciplines of cross country, downhill, single speed, super d, 4x, mountain cross and short track races. The weekend-long national event will determine the US National Mountain Bike Champions in the Junior, Junior Category 1, Category 1, Under 23, and Pro divisions.

For more than three years, SolVista has been transforming their alpine skiing terrain into a mountain bike mecca. The National Championships will allow SolVista Bike Park to showcase its expansion of downhill mountain bike trails and new terrain features. An added benefit to competitors is the fact that the resort is not on US Forest Service land so there are few restrictions on course design.

Qualifying competitors will test their speed and endurance on the new world-class trails custom designed and created by Momentum Trails Concept. Specializing in mountain bike course design and construction, Momentum Trails Concept has created unique and challenging trails specifically to meet the needs of riders with all abilities.

The Granby Ranch Mountain Bike Park features ten trails: three black, four blue and three green, along with a pump track. Guests and racers can now pre ride the cross-country course and the pumptrack will be open for anyone to ride during the entire event.

Granby Ranch offers guests an opportunity to explore Colorados natural beauty in every season, specializing in the outdoor activities for which Colorado is known: skiing, golf, mountain biking, fishing, and hiking. Although during the winter months, guests there can be seen loading chairlifts and schussing down snowy runs, the summer brings new sports and fun activities for families and thrill-seekers to enjoy.

Recreational mountain bikers are among the adventurers who flock to SolVista during the warmer months. This month, those cycling enthusiasts will enjoy seeing some of the worlds premier riders tear through SolVista Bike Park’s new trails, jumps, and terrain features for the national competition. Interested competitors can register online until Tuesday, July 14th at midnight, at www.SolVistaNationals.com.
