Three more members of Colorado Ski Country USA are firing up their chairlifts this morning, opening for the season amid the best early-season conditions for many years.
People at Crested Butte are excited for Opening Day, which is free for all comers. As can be seen in the video above, some of them are even camping out to get the first chair. The kids these days, with their camping. Shouldn’t they be in school?
Sunlight Mountain Resort
Sunlight Mountain is opening for its 47th season with a solid 25-inch base. Through the weekend, lift tickets will be $47 for a full day adult, $37 for half day adult, and $35 for a full day child.
Today also kicks off the first treasure hunt of the season at Sunlight. The treasure can be found hidden somewhere on the mountain. Whoever finds it will win a season pass to Sunlight for the 2014/2015 ski and snowboard season. Clues will be posted every Friday on Sunlights facebook page and in Guest Services.
Steamboat Ski & Resort
Steamboat opened today with a 26-inch base at mid-mountain, five lifts, 57 trails, and 735 acres of terrain. The resort has seen more than seven feet of snow since October 1st with nearly four feet falling during the month of November.
Be sure to check out Steamboat’s Korbel Opening Weekend Celebration, featuring free Korbel, cupcakes and hot chocolate in Gondola Square (2pm on Saturday), a concert featuring the Steamboat String Band (3pm on Saturday) and two-for-one appetizers at the Bear River Bar & Grill and the Cabin all weekend.
