Preparations for the 2017-18 Winter Season have begun at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Wintry temperatures and natural snowfall have set the tone for the resort’s Snowmaking Team to embark on another snowmaking season in anticipation of the lifts spinning. Crested Butte Mountain Resort begins making snow this evening, Halloween night.

In true Crested Butte fashion, more than 20 costume-clad locals came out to celebrate Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s start to snowmaking.

“Snowmaking begins tonight, weather permitting. We’ve got our crew on standby ready to go.” says Tucker Roberts, Snowmaking Manager at CBMR. “We look forward to start covering the mountain with great snowmaking in preparation for the start of ski season.”

Crested Butte Mountain Resort kicks off the winter season with Donation Day on November 22, 2017, where a $15 donation allows skiers and riders to make their first runs of the season. All proceeds from Donation Day benefit the Crested Butte Snowsports Foundation. The official Opening Day follows one day later.
