Snow fell on the mountains around Purgatory Resort late Sunday night and into Monday. A dusting was visible from the base area, with the summit of the resort receiving a few inches. With the snow came colder temperatures, allowing Purgatory to begin snowmaking for the 2020/2021 ski season.

“We are planning on making snow every night moving forward as long as Mother Nature cooperates and gives us good temperatures,” said Sam Williams, senior director of mountain operations at Purgatory Resort.

The recent snowfall was a welcoming sight as the Purgatory team works to prepare the mountain for its scheduled opening day of November 21. Enjoy these photos of the resort’s snowmaking efforts and the surrounding area, taken on October 27.

Season passes are still on sale for the 2020/2021 season. Guests who purchase their pass before November 6 will receive the lowest guaranteed price. The Power Kids FREE season pass for all children 10 and under is also available again this year. Power Kids season passes are good at Purgatory Resort, Pajarito Mountain Ski Area, Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort, Arizona Snowbowl, Hesperus Ski Area, Nordic Valley Ski Resort, Brian Head Resort and Spider Mountain Bike Park — no purchase necessary.
