Resorts Steeped In Snow After Weekend Storm
A winter snowstorm settled over Colorado ski country last weekend and left as much as 18 inches of snow at some resorts. All of Colorado Ski Country USAs (CSCUSA) resorts received new snow in the last 48 hours. The fresh snow was welcomed by Presidents Day holiday skiers and snowboarders taking advantage of the seasons already powdery conditions in Colorado.
Resorts in southwest Colorado received generous amounts of precipitation from the storm with Wolf Creek and Silverton both reporting 18 inches. Nearby Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort added 13 inches of fresh snow to their season total and Telluride stacked an additional ten inches on their terrain.
Ski areas in the Central Rockies added new snow with Snowmass weekend total at 16 inches. Monarch saw 13 inches of winter wealth and Crested Butte totaled a foot of fresh. Ten inches of new snow fell at Sunlight, Aspen Highlands and Buttermlik, while Aspen Mountain collected eight inches.
Perched just outside of Leadville, Ski Cooper racked up nine new inches of snow. The massive storm reached resorts in the northwest part of Colorado as Steamboat reported a fresh eight inches and neighboring Howelsen reported five.
Along the Front Range, Loveland and Echo Mountain both counted seven inches of fresh snow from the storm. Resorts such as Winter Park, SolVista Basin at Granby Ranch and Copper all received at least half-a-foot of fresh as did the Western Slopes Powderhorn. Eldora and Arapahoe Basin also reported new snow amounts over the last couple of days.
