Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort Opens

Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort kicks off its winter season this morning, and will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Nov. 23 through Sunday, Nov. 25.

This weekend, Purgatory will have skiing and riding off Lift 4 (Twilight Lift) with limited terrain open. Skiing and riding will be on Demon to the base.Durango Mountain Resort received a foot of snow over the Veterans Day weekend and an additional 3 of snow on Nov. 17.Purgatory has also been blowing snow to help supplement what Mother Nature is providing and establish a good base.

Discounted lift tickets are available today through Sunday.Prices are $42 for adults; $30 for students (13-17 yrs) and seniors (65+); and $20 for kids (6-12 yrs).Season passes, including weekday passes will be honored today and all weekend.

Durango Mountain Resort will temporarily suspend operations on Monday, Nov. 26 to allow its snowmaking and grooming team to operate at maximum capacity throughout the week, ensuring the best possible terrain offerings when operations resume on Friday, Nov. 30 through Dec. 2.Purgatory will be open on weekends only (Fridays through Sundays) until conditions permit daily operations, most likely around mid-December.

This weekend, Purgys Restaurant will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for lunch, aprs ski and dinner (on Sunday, Purgys is open until 4:30 p.m.) and the coffee kiosk will be open at 8 a.m.Village Market and Deli will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Shops in Purgatory Village Plaza will also be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tomorrow from 2 4 p.m., enjoy Season Kick-Off festivities with fun and games on Purgatory Beach.Prizes will be given away, including a free snowboard during the Bud Light Season Kick-Off Football Contest and other fun activities in the base area.
