Powderhorn Mountain Resort (PMR) had an early opening yesterdayfor a preview weekend that will launch a significantly-lengthened ski season with a new chair lift and amenities to attract a wider audience of skiers and snowboarders.
Significant early season snowfall, combined with the new debut of the Flat Top Flyer high-speed detachable quad chairlift is allowing PMR to have their best and one of the earliest opening dates in their 49 year history. This preview weekend is Dec. 4-6.
To celebrate the historic opening weekend and the opening of the much anticipated high-speed lift, the Flat Top Flyer, PMR is offering special pricing for opening weekend of Dec. 4-6. Children six and under will receive a free lift ticket. A single adult lift ticket will be $49.
This is exactly what we were hoping for with the new lift and the El Nino weather pattern this season, said Sam Williams, general manager of PMR. The Flat Top Flyer was completed and weve all been eagerly waiting for opening day to launch this new era of Powderhorn. This is the best opening the resort has ever had and we are on track to have the best season Powderhorn has ever had.
The new Flat Top Flyer and EZ Rider lifts will be open from 9 am to 4 pm, with select terrain availability. The West End lift is slated to open at a later date.
Eric Yonts, winner of the Name-the-Lift contest held in June, will be taking the inaugural first chair ride on opening day with his family.
The Snow Tubing hill will be open on weekends and holidays starting Dec. 20. Advance reservations are recommended due to high volume and demand.
The Sunset Bar & Grille will be open during the preview weekend with regular operating hours and there will be live music on the Sunset Deck.
The resort will be open for full operations starting December 11, and lift ticket prices will move to regular season pricing of $69 for a full-day adult lift ticket.
