Return of the Ski Train, Added Flights Make it Easier to Visit Colorados Premier Ski Resorts

Winter Park Express-1

New and added flights from Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, San Diego and the return of the Winter Park Express will give skiers and riders more options to get to their favorite Colorado Ski Country USA resorts this winter.

The ski train, long a staple of skiing in Colorado, returns Saturday January 7, 2016 and continues every weekend and holiday Monday through Sunday, March 26, 2017. Coupled with the new commuter train running from Denver International Airport (DEN) to Union Station in downtown Denver, where the Winter Park Express departs, visiting skiers and riders can get to Winter Park without renting or even getting into a car during their stay. 3,300 tickets were sold in the first 24 hours and can be purchased at winterparkresort.com with one way adult tickets starting at $39.

In addition to the ski train, visitors can access seven resorts within a two hour drive of Denver (DEN) while new and existing flights make it easier than ever to access all of Colorado Ski Country USAs 21 member resorts.

Aspen Snowmass will have a new daily nonstop flight from Los Angeles (LAX) this winter and welcomes the return of nonstop flights from Salt Lake City (SLC), all operated by Delta. These additional flights begin December 17, 2016 when Delta also resumes seasonal daily nonstop flights from Atlanta (ATL) and Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP), which will allow for connections from virtually the entire Delta domestic and global network.

A new flight operated by Alaska Airlines into Steamboat/Hayden (HDN) from San Diego International Airport (SAN) will give southern Californians a chance to experience Steamboats legendary Champagne Powder with flights operating twice a week Dec. 17, 2016 to March 25, 2017.

Skiers and riders hoping to make it to ski areas in the southwest part of the state: Telluride, Silverton, Purgatory and Wolf Creek, will have another option from Denver (DEN) on a new Allegiant Airlines flight servicing Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ) twice weekly with one-way fares as low as $44.
