Moving Mountains celebrates 15 years of providing mountain enthusiasts its Catered Chalet experience which isthe unique attribute that sets it apart from nearly all other lodging opportunities in North America.Moving Mountains pioneered the catered chalet concept in Colorado, modeling its business after catered chalet style ski vacationing in Europe, which more than 40 percent of skiers choose over other lodging options. The catered chalet experience provides a complete package with lodging, meals and transportation. Guests enjoy more vacation time and a superior vacation experience by removing day-to-day chores such as shopping, cooking, cleaning up after meals and driving their group around. Moving Mountains is currently one of only a few companies in Colorado and just a handful in North America that offers this experience, combining lodging and full-service catered meals. The idea for the Catered Chalet originated with Moving Mountains founders Robin and Heather Craigen. Growing up in Europe, Robin worked in several catered chalets and took that concept to sea with Heather, aboard a Caribbean charter sailing yacht named Endless Summer II. They offered guests a complete vacation experience freshly prepared meals, first-class air-conditioned accommodations, and a memorable island cruise. Their journey continued from Endless Summer to Ski Town USA, as Steamboat Springs is known, and Moving Mountains now provides skiers with the same style of top quality package. When guests leave all the day-to-day planning and executing details to us, they are able to more fully enjoy their vacation experience. And that is what many vacationers want these days. They work hard, but they dont want to work while on vacation.

Moving Mountains luxury catered chalet package typically includes breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meals. A personal chef prepares gourmet meals in the comfort of the home. Meals are tailored to the groups preferences including vegetarian, organic and special diets. Moving Mountains also offers separate options for children. Beyond the cooking, Moving Mountains provides a bounty of services with personal touch. An airport shuttle meets guests at the airport and chauffeurs the group to their home, and on-call shuttle service takes guests to and from the ski lifts and anywhere in town. Daily housekeeping is included. Chalet hosts provide assistance with any needs that arise including local shopping trips and activity reservations. Plus they are also an excellent source of local information, so it’s like having a personal guide for the week! The concept has been overwhelmingly popular with Steamboat Springs ski vacationers. From 15 years ago, when the Craigens began their business with one chalet and two employees, it has avalanched into a thriving business that manages more than 40 homes with 30 employees. In fact, Moving Mountains manages the largest luxury vacation home collection in Steamboat Springs. When we started the business, we essentially rented out our home while occupying one bedroom for ourselves, remembered Craigen. We provided all the cooking, cleaning and chauffeuring services, which kept us pretty busy. Now, with their staff of 30 they are a viable employer and tax revenue generator for the city of Steamboat Springs. As our business has grown, so has our family of staff and guests, with many returning on a regular basis to share fun times in the Rocky Mountains said Craigen. The staff shares a commitment to making our guests vacations memorable and hassle-free in exceptional mountain homes. And with our guests, we share a common excitement for the Steamboat area and all it has to offer. Fifteen years on the business has grown it tremendously, but the vision remains the same.
