Is This Chair Taken? – It started out as a way to get rid of old chairs and turned into an All-American Backyard BBQ. This summer, Arapahoe Basin is replacing the beloved Exhibition chairlift with the new Black Mountain lift. What do ski resorts do with old chairlift chairs? Auction them off to the highest bidder. In this case, A-Basin decided to use the chairs to support a good cause and has partnered with the High Country Conservation Center as beneficiaries of the auction. The live auction will be August 28th at the resort base area.
Then A-Basin figured they can’t just have an auction by itself, so they decided to have a band play. But not just any band, they invited Colorado’s most popular funk band, Funkiphino who will play from 12pm-3pm.
Next A-Basin realized people would probably get hungry if they are spending the day at the mountain, bidding on a chair and enjoying Funkiphino. So they asked Chef Christopher Rybak to fix a little something for the crowd. Chef Rybak put together a traditional Colorado backyard barbeque menu featuring fresh local produce and meats.
Join Arapahoe Basin for an afternoon of bidding, band jamming and barbequing on August 28 from 11am-3pm.
