Howelsen Hill Ski Area is owned and operated by the City of Steamboat Springs and holds a unique place in the history of skiing. It has sent more skiers to international competition than any other area in North America. Come experience skiing history in the Yampa Valley.
It is Colorado’s oldest continuously operated ski area, since 1915, and has the largest and most complete natural ski jumping complex in North America. Howelsen has been the training ground for nearly 90 Olympians making over 150 Winter Olympic appearances, 22 members of the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame, and 13 members of the National Ski Hall of Fame.
This season, Howelson Hill announced that they will be opening early! With the opening of near Steamboat Resort coming early this season, Howelson decided to host a community celebration the day before and offer lift ticket for $11.14 signifying the date of opening (11/14/19). Howelson will be open from 4pm to 8 pm on Thursday the 14th with music, food and games.
After Thursday’s operations, Howelson will reopen the followoing Sunday (11/17/19) for Ski Free Sunday’s! Howelson Hill will be open for Sunday’s only until November 30 – that’s when the Hill will begin a full operating schedule. They will be open for the season starting on November 30 daily from Tuesday – Sunday.
