Due to incredibly good snowfall during the 2018-19 ski season, Monarch Mountain has announced it is extending its ski season for an additional two weekends. After April 7th, Monarch will be open for skiing, snowboarding, cat skiing and tubing with limited on-mountain services Friday-Sunday (April 12-14 and April 19-21).

Monarch is sitting on a 100-inch base and has received over 240 inches thus far, with a favorable forecast for more winter storms throughout the month of March and into April.

“This season has already proven to be quite an exceptional one.  After a few seasons of below average snowfall it is extremely rewarding to be able to share our love for the mountain with our guests.  It is not often that we have been presented with such an opportunity to continue to share our mountain with those that so want to continue to do so.  Not only is extending our season an exciting opportunity, but it is an obligation that we must fulfill for our loyal guests whom have been craving it for years,” according to Randy Stroud, GM/COO

Closing weekend will still be celebrated with its traditional events. Monarch’s signature event, Kayaks on Snow will be moved to Saturday, April 20. “Kayaks on snow is a celebration of a great ski season transitioning into the valley’s boating season, which is shaping up to be an incredible water year,” said Dan Bender, Monarch Marketing Director. The Gunbarrel Challenge and the parking lot cookoff will be moved to April 21st. Guest can participate in the grueling up-down race on Gunbarrel, test their tailgate cooking skills by preparing food for a panel of judges, or simply enjoy the festivities by watching the race, tasting the food and skiing/riding the mountain.

After April 7th, lift operating hours will be from 10am-5pm. There will be four lifts running, including Caterpillar, Garfield, Breezeway and Panorama lifts with limited on-mountain services. An adult lift ticket will be $54 and the Kaleidoscope Tubing Park will be offering a reduced rate of $17 for a one hour session.
