Granby Ranch is an easily accessible mountain that is very family friendly and close to Denver. In the winter months, Granby Ranch offers 38 trails and over 400 acres of skiable terrain but in the summertime, that all changes.
As you plan out your summer to-do list, be sure to add a day (or two, or three, or more) at Granby Ranch to the list. All it takes is a short, 90-minute drive up I-70 from Denver and you are there. Ready to shred or ride.
Summer in the Rockies is something that many people tend to think second about. When you think of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, you think snow. As you should. But immediately following that thought, you should think picture perfect summer. Cool breezes, sunshine, and great towns with great atmospheres. Summer in the Rocky Mountains is truly something else.
Now, if you’re a summer activities fanatic and want a new place to mountain bike or cross-country bike, or if you’re simply looking to add a new hobby to your extensive list of outdoor recreational abilities, you need to plan a trip to Granby Ranch. If you are a beginner at mountain biking or are bringing a beginner to the mountains, Granby Ranch offers plenty of trails to fit your needs.
The Granby Ranch bike park was expertly planned with rocky paths, single track paths, and dirt road paths. You’ll have the option to cross country bike on the more than 20 cross country trails totaling 45 miles worth of purpose-built private trails. They have 10 miles of lift-assisted downhill mountain biking trails and 25 miles of cross-country trails around the resort. Some of these are a cakewalk (no really, there’s a trail called “cake walk” and it’s a beginner single-track cross-country track). Others will make you feel like you’re out of gas (no really, there’s a trail called “out of gas” and it is an expert only cross-country track).
If cross-country biking isn’t your thing, maybe you could try downhill biking! It’s kind of like downhill skiing, but with a bike! The downhill Mountain bike park (and some cross country trails) is serviced by the Quick Draw Express lift that you can attach your bike to and enjoy a short and scenic ride to the top of the mountain. From that point, you have the option of riding down 18 gravity-specific bike trails. Start off slow and loose on the Loosey trail or get nasty on the expert only Bucnasty trail. The choice is yours.
We want you to have fun and be safe. Always stay in control and know your limits when mountain biking. Also, be lift smart! Riding a lift with a bicycle is a lot different than riding a lift with your ski equipment. As with all mountain sports, be visible, obey signs and warnings, and look out for others.
The Granby Ranch mountain bike opens on Friday, May 31, 2019. Their hours of operation are from 10 am – 5 pm. They also offer live and local music every Wednesday from 5-8pm at the Granby Ranch Grill.
