All across Colorado, the state will be buzzing today with accountants preparing taxes closing day parties and festivities, as some of our resorts shut down lifts for the season. Today is the last day of the season for Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Copper Mountain, Eldora, Silverton, Snowmass and Steamboat. Thats the sad news.
The happy news is that Colorado still has three resorts open: Winter Park, Loveland Ski Area and Arapahoe Basin. We have one of the longest ski seasons in the country with a couple resorts staying open well into spring. Its our higher elevation and dry air that enables the resorts to stay open when most other states have closed.
So even though its tax day, file and forget it. Treat yourself to some fresh air and gorgeous views of the Colorado Rockies. Sunny skies, warm temperatures and soft slushy snow wait for your skiing, riding and comradely enjoyment. Theres a deck chair at 10,000 feet somewhere with your name on it.
