Eldora Mountain Resort will host the inaugural Ditchslap Banked Slalom Presented by 10 Barrel Brewing Co. on Saturday April 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Snowboarders are invited to compete in one of four different competitive divisions for a share of the $10,000 prize purse.
Banked slaloms are iconic to the Pacific Northwest and something were lucky enough to enjoy in our backyard of Bend, OR, says Andy Goggins, marketing director of 10 Barrel Brewing. Were excited to be part of the Ditchslap Banked Slalom at Eldora. It doesnt get much better than the combo of snowboarding, mountains and good beer.
The Ditchslap Banked Slalom features a luge-like course with gates flanked by high berms, allowing riders to slingshot from one edge of their board to the other as they gain momentum and speed. Competitors receive two timed runs and the fastest combined time will determine the winner.
Eldoras classic Corkscrew run will host the race. Known among locals as The Trick Ditch, Corkscrew was home to one of Colorados first halfpipes. Today, the remains of that halfpipe form a ditch-like feature that is a perfect setting for a banked slalom.
With the support of Eldoras parent company POWDR Adventure Lifestyle, Co., and Human Movement, Inc., POWDRs event specialty division, the Ditchslap Banked Slalom is sure to be a classic spring spectacle, says Brent Tregaskis, Eldoras general manager. With tunes spun by local favorite DJ Sam, live music by The Goonies, an award ceremony for top finishers, plus prize raffles and giveaways for attendees, Eldora Mountain Resort couldnt be more excited to partner with 10 Barrel Brewing in the name of springtime fun in the mountains. Also, were the closest skiing to the Front Range, so its easy for anyone to come spectate and compete.
Other events happening that same weekend include 10 Barrel Brewing Companys Ski Beach, with oversized lawn games and an outdoor beer garden. And, April 1 is also Eldoras annual Retro Day, with prizes given for best on-hill costumes.
Ditchslap Banked Slalom race divisions include men 18-34; women 18-34; men 35 and older; and women 35 and older. The cost to enter is $35 for competitors 18-34 years old and $25 for competitors 35 years and older. To register and find out more information, visit www.Ditchslap10.com.
