Eldora, the winter playground for Boulder County, greater Denver, and Colorado’s northern Front Range, is excited to announce that it will open for alpine skiing and riding on Friday, November 1, 2019, for the 2019/20 winter season, a full two weeks ahead of schedule, one week ahead of last winter, and three weeks ahead of our historic average opening day of November 22. This will be the resort’s earliest opening in 22 years.

Just 21 miles west of Boulder and less than 50 from Denver, Eldora is the Front Range’s most convenient mountain, with unlimited access on the multi-mountain Ikon Pass. Eldora is also featured in Warren Miller Entertainment’s new film, “Timeless,” which is now showing in theaters worldwide.

“We are beyond stoked to be one of the first resorts in America to open, again,” says Brent Tregaskis, Eldora’s president and general manager. “We’ve been blessed with more than two feet of natural snow already this month, plus ideal snowmaking conditions. Eldora has a loyal family of skiers and riders and we’re thrilled to give them just what they want—our earliest Opening Day in more than two decades.”

The high-speed, six-person Alpenglow chairlift will start spinning at 9:00 AM and Eldora’s Opening Weekend Kickoff Party will continue throughout the weekend, with giveaways, live music—and that inimitable new-season thrill that every skier and rider knows.

Access to Eldora’s Nordic Center and uphill routes will not be available at this time. While exact details regarding which alpine trails will be open are not yet known, Eldora anticipates being able to offer intermediate and advanced terrain, some Woodward park features, private-lesson availability, and early-season conditions. Eldora’s operations crews will continue to make snow as weather permits with the goal of opening additional terrain as soon as possible. All parking at Eldora during the 2019/20 winter season will continue to be free of charge.

Eldora is also excited to announce new investments in the guest experience for the 2019/20 winter season:

  • Launch of the New “Woodward Mountain Park” – Eldora is proud to introduce a brand new “Start Park” and evolved “Progression Parks” as part of POWDR’s Woodward Mountain Park experience. The mountain is also set to acquire a new Zaugg terrain-shaping machine, which will allow our park shapers to efficiently build consistent and innovative park features, further cementing Eldora as the Front Range’s best terrain-park destination.
  • Tune Shop, Rental, and Retail Upgrades – Eldora’s tune shop now features a state-of-the-art Wintersteiger Mercury ski-and-board service machine capable of tuning and waxing up to 30 pairs of skis per hour, enhancing our ability to deliver top-quality ski and board care and get our guests back out on the slopes quickly. Also, a full renovation of lower Indian Peaks Lodge will provide a better, more efficient experience for our rental and retail customers.
  • Food & Beverage Improvements – Upgrades to equipment and facilities will ensure that Eldora continues to offer guests a greater variety of high-quality food and beverage options made from scratch from locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.
  • Sustainability Investments – In support of Eldora’s Play Forever sustainability initiative, Eldora has purchased two new hybrid gas-electric parking-lot busses and one zero-emission electric bus. It is also one of an exclusive group of resorts testing two new zero-emission electric snowmobile for potential use in mountain operations.

Winter 2019/20 products are now available for purchase, including Ikon Passes, Eldora Season Passes and 4-Passes, Trek and Eldorables Programs, Season Rentals, and more. Buy before Opening Day for the best prices.
