Theres been a lot of buzz lately about snowfall amounts, and here in Colorado, we know a thing or two about the white stuff. Colorado is known for having consistently good conditions and this year is no exception as resorts are providing a safe skiing environment while guests enjoy being with friends and family and riding the terrain that is open.

So were in a little dry spell, dont sweat it. Sure, in a perfect world, every day would be a powder day, but reality is, we are a weather dependent industry and some seasons are better than others for snowfall. Colorado is doing more than holding our own in the snow department; Ski Country has plenty of terrain open for skiing and snowboarding. Almost every lift at our resorts is running and 17,530 total skiable acres of terrain is available.

And lets talk about the snow that covers that terrain. The snow is consistent with the quality conditions skiers and riders have come to expect in Colorado. You see, were lucky because Colorados higher elevation keeps the snow in good condition for longer periods of time. Plus, cold temperatures have provided numerous opportunities for resorts to make snow, and the new state-of-the-art grooming equipment allows resorts to keep the mountain in the best shape possible.

But when you ski in Colorado, being on the mountain is only part of the fun. There are many factors that play a role in a quality guest experience; sun (another thing we have tons of in Colorado), events (resorts will host to multiple New Years Eve parties, torch light parades, and fire work displays), competitions (X-Games will be in Aspen in Jan, ski racers are training in Winter Park, Crested Butte will host the USASA halfpipe competition and Steamboat is conducting women and race camps, just to name a few).

There is no doubt that guests who come to Colorado will not be disappointed. They can enjoy the mountains, the mountain communities and spending time with their families and friends. After all, skiing is about being outdoors, having a good time, getting out of the house, coming to the mountains, enjoying the weather, teaching junior to make some turns and having a great experience.

Maybe its just us, but working in the ski industry, you cant help but be optimistic. It will snow. These Colorado weather systems can change on a dime and are very unpredictable. Heck, back in October we bolted out of the gates with gusto and Wolf Creek opened with three feet of snow. Since October, five snowstorms and left their bounty on Colorado a very respectable pace. There is still a lot of ski season ahead of us, and our snowiest months are still to come.
