Sammys are awarded by Ski Area Management (SAM) magazine to individuals in the ski industry who stand out and show exceptional leadership qualities, not only at their resort but in the industry as well. The Sammy Leadership Award winners are nominated by their peers, can come from any resort in the country, and cover all aspects of resort operations.

Matt is the vice president of sales and marketing at Telluride Ski & Golf. He has worked in the ski industry with various companies including a ski shop at Bogus Basin Idaho, Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort, and Bonier Mountain Group (publishers of Ski and Skiing magazines).

Under Skinners leadership, Telluride was also recognized by SAM for Best Ad Market Research. In the fall, using social media, the resort put different ad creatives up for feedback, basically asking people who already like the resort, literally, not just digitally, to vote on and choose their favorite.

We also want to give a hearty congrats to Monarch Mountain for being recognized for Best Multi-Mountain Print Ad Campaign. the ad stands out. In a good way40664066Monarch

Monarchs 26-partner seasons pass program now spans four countries, two continents, and six states. 2012/13 passes are on sale now.

Also in the print category, Aspen was recognized for Best Branding as their “Before Aspen” campaign rolled out this year.

Other member resorts called out for their creative ideas include Most Timely E-mail and Best Google+ Execution going to Copper Mountain, Best Use of Klout Perks: Aspen, Best Summer Promotion, again going to Telluride.

Overall CSCUSA resorts raked in 8 “Best of” nods, 2 “Worst ofs”, and 1 Sammy Award. To check out other awards and award winners, you can visit the Ski Area Management website.
