Celebrate all that is Fido with the inaugural Coppers Gone to the Dogs Saturday, June 28. With 5k and 10k races, dock diving and avalanche dog demonstrations, a yappy hour and more, your favorite furry friend is sure to have a howling good time.
The days events kick off with a 5k and 10k running race. Owners and their dogs can choose between a 5k or 10k with both courses spanning across Coppers three base village areas. Race entry fee is $35 per person and, dogs are free. Runners are encouraged to fundraise their entry fee and beyond as 100% of proceeds raised benefit L.A.P.S. The fun continues with Dock Diving by Rocky Mountain Dock Dogs at West Lake at 12 p.m. All dogs are welcome to give diving a try with a recommended donation of $5 to L.A.P.S. Copper Mountains very own avalanche dogs begin avalanche rescue demonstrations on the Pavilion Lawn in Center Village at 2 p.m. At 3 p.m., Louisa Morrissey and High Country Dogs demonstrate Cani-Cross and dog scooters in Burning Stones Plaza. Enjoy free live music with Mike Woofard Woodard from 2 4 p.m. End the day at Yappy Hour with Animal Planets Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald at Incline Bar and Grill at 5 p.m. Burning Stones Plaza in Center Village transforms into the Dog Gone Vendor Village from 9 a.m. 5 p.m. with vendor tents featuring Breckenridge Dog House, Chuck & Dons, Mountain Pet Rescue, Snow Caps, Summit Massage & Wellness Studio, Summit Therapy Animals and Whole Foods Market. Vendors are on hand to hand out free samples and provide information on how to keep your dog happy and healthy.
All proceeds raised from race entries and donations benefit League for Animals and People of the Summit. L.A.P.S. strives to reduce pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs in Summit County.
