Family of Ski Passes Provide Introduction to Skiing and Access to 20 Resorts

It is widely known that Colorado is the top destination for skiing and snowboarding. According to the National Ski Areas Association, Colorado hosts more than 20 percent of US skier visits. Locals and visitors alike flock to the mountains during ski season to take advantage of all that Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) offers. Reasons for this range from having the best, most abundant and consistent snow conditions, to having many different resorts, each with varying terrain and all with unparalleled guest service.

While millions of people log in days on snow every winter, CSCUSA member resorts want to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to ski and snowboard in Colorado. Resorts believe in their product and the benefits of skiing and snowboarding so much, that they give discounted, unlimited, and in some cases free, access to their resorts.

The menu of ski pass programs offered by CSCUSA members reflect the devotion resorts have to introducing winter sports to newcomers, exposing skiers and riders to the variety of resorts in Ski Country, and inspiring friends and families to enjoy the sports together.

Below is an overview of the lift ticket passes offered by CSCUSA and its member resorts. Additionally, more details can be found and purchases can be made by visiting www.ColoradoSki.com/passes.

5th and 6th Grade Passport

In 1997, CSCUSA started a program called the 5th Grade Passport. This first of its kind program which has subsequently been copied throughout the industry was designed to help introduce fifth graders in the state to the sports of skiing and snowboarding. The CSCUSA 5th Grade Passport was free and allowed fifth graders three days of skiing at each ski resort throughout Colorado. Parents helped kids sign up for the ski passes through applications sent to more than 1,200 Colorado elementary schools in the fall.

Today, the 5th Grade Passport has introduced more than 250,000 kids to the sports of skiing and snowboarding. The 5th Grade Passport is still free and offers its young pass holders three days of skiing and snowboarding at 20 participating CSCUSA member resorts. Additionally, the entire registration can be easily completed online at ColoradoSki.com/Passport.

Shortly after the 5th Grade Passport program was born, CSCUSA introduced the 6th Grade Passport program. The 6th Grade Passport provides four days of skiing at each of 21 CSCUSA resorts for a small fee. Since theinception of the sixth grade pass, more than 52,000 sixth-graders have taken advantage of the program. These CSCUSA programs are easy, economical ways to introduce kids to skiing and snowboarding while getting them outside and active during the winter months.
