A powerful winter storm materialized over Colorado recently, leaving remarkable snow totals at Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) member resorts from a snow event lasting four consecutive days. The storm was widespread, leaving more than a foot of snow at all CSCUSA member resorts, with twelve resorts receiving more than two feet and two ski areas welcoming four feet of powder for their elated guests.
Resorts in the southern and western portions of Colorado fared excellently from the storm. Wolf Creek Ski Areas memorable 2015-16 ski season continued with 49 inches of new snow in the space of 72 hours, taking their season total to a staggering 319 inches of snow with the historically snowiest months still to come. In addition, Silverton Mountain reported four feet of new snow, Powderhorn welcomed 37 inches of powder, Purgatory Resort measured 35 inches, and Telluride received 31 inches.
Skiers and snowboarders at the resorts of Colorados central and northern mountains are also enjoying deep powder conditions, with the four Aspen Snowmass mountains leading the way. Aspen Mountain received 36 inches from the storm, while Snowmass measured 35 inches, Aspen Highlands recorded 33 inches, and Buttermilk saw 30 inches. Crested Butte and Monarch Mountain also received 30 inches of new snow, while Steamboat welcomed 25 inches, 22 inches fell at Cooper, and Sunlight Mountain saw 20 inches.
Front Range skiers and snowboarders are riding in great conditions as well, as Loveland Ski Area saw 22 inches from the storm, Eldora and Ski Granby Ranch each received 19 inches, Copper Mountain recorded 18 inches, Arapahoe Basin saw 15 inches, and Winter Park received 14 inches.
