Spring skiing is in full swing at Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) ski areas, with recent snowfall, warm weather and long days offering something for everyone. As the calendar turns towards April, Colorado ski resorts will celebrate the end of the ski season with family-friendly events, springtime festivities and lift ticket discounts for skiers and riders to enjoy.
A list of 2017-18 closing celebrations at Colorado ski resorts is below, and a list of expected closing dates is included at the bottom of this release.
Shakin’ at the Basin Spring Concert Series (June 2-3)
Arapahoe Basin will close the first weekend of June depending on conditions and will celebrate the longer days, sunnier skies and great snow conditions with free live music from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Mountain Goat Plaza. For more information, visit www.arapahoebasin.com.
Spring Lift Ticket Discounts (April 1-15)
Guests can enjoy discounted spring skiing and riding at Aspen Snowmass with 40 percent off a minimum of 2 days. Terms and conditions apply.
Bacon Appreciation Day (April 8)
In celebration of Buttermilk’s closing day, the mountain will host the annual Bacon Appreciation Day featuring a schedule of all things bacon including bacon waffles at the summit in the morning, bacon samplers around the mountain throughout the day, kid’s games in the base area, and a bacon and beer happy hour at Bumps restaurant. Buttermilk will also host an uphilling event called ‘Fueled by Bacon Sizzle Up’ beginning at 8 a.m.
Elk Camp Surf & Snow Beach Party (April 14)
Elk Camp will host a beach party starting at 11:30 a.m. including a live DJ, swim attire, volleyball, drink specials, a taco bar, margarita bike blenders and plenty of raffles and giveaways. Guests in swim attire can participate in Snowmass’ attempt at the largest swimsuit ski parade in North America starting at 3:30 p.m.
Schneetag (April 15)
Hosted on Snowmass’s Closing Day, the 10th annual Schneetag event will feature teams of four to create a craft that they pilot down a slope and attempt to float across a pond. Entry in the event is free and the top three teams win prizes. For more information, visit www.aspensnowmass.com.
Spring Lift Ticket Deal (April 2-8)
Cooper is celebrating the end of the ski season with $25 lift tickets. Skiers and riders can enjoy the warm weather and longer days with deeply discounted lift tickets at Cooper.
Closing Weekend Beach Party (April 7-8)
Cooper’s closing weekend will feature many festivities for guests including a costume party and live music on the deck on April 8. For more information, visit www.skicooper.com
Slopesoakers Pond Skim (April 14)
Copper Mountain will bring a twist to the traditional pond skim with the 7th annual SlopeSoakers contest. Competitors will have the chance to strut their stuff across floating rails, helping Copper end another winter season in style. Following the competition, guests can enjoy a free concert with the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
Retro Shred-a-Thon (April 15)
On Copper Mountain’s Closing Day, the Retro Shred-a-Thon will return with throwback gear to raise funds for injured mountain sports athletes. Guests are encouraged to reach out for pledges and donations to the High Fives Foundation and wear retro ski gear, including one-piece snow suits, shaped snowboards, long poles and straight skis. SkiTown Breakdown and Pond Skim (April 6-8)
Crested Butte’s closing weekend celebrations will include free live concerts in a revamped multi-venue live performance. On April 7, the LandShark Pond skim will provide a fun reason to dress up in silly costumes and watch contestants skim across water on their skis and snowboards in celebration of closing weekend. Spring Luau and Pond Skim (April 14)
Eldora’s Spring Beach Party and Pond Skim will be a day of sunshine, splashing and sending the season off with some fun. Eldora’s bash of the season invites guests to grab their best beach outfit and test their skimming ability on the last day of the season. For more information, visit www.eldora.com.
Spring Splash (March 31) and Meltdown Race (April 1)
Granby Ranch invites guests to close out the winter with pond skimming at the annual spring splash on March 31. Granby Ranch will host its closing day Meltdown Race on April 1. Live Music at Loveland Basin (May 5-6)

10th Annual Parking Lot Cook-Off & Tailgate Party (April 8)
Monarch will celebrate the end of the ski season and the beginning of the whitewater boating season with a parking lot full of tailgates, BBQ’s and beach chairs. For more information, visit www.skimonarch.com.
End of Season Celebration (March 31-April 1)
Purgatory Resort will celebrate the season in style with fun events and live music. March 31 will feature the annual pond skim event with prizes for the best skim, wipeout and costumes, plus a free concert by Aeromyth, an Aerosmith tribute band. On April 1, the celebrations will continue with a Deck Party at the Powderhouse with music and giveaways hosted by Steamworks Brewing. For more information, visit www.purgatoryresort.com.
If conditions permit, Purgatory will continue operating during the weekends through April.
Sisters’ Meeting in the Mountains (April 6-8)
During Silverton’s closing weekend, the ski area will host the annual Sisters’ Meeting in the Mountains, an inspirational weekend packed with skiing and riding steeps, networking and educational presentations from some of the most well-respected women in the industry. Cardboard Classic (April 14) and Splashdown Pond Skim (April 15)
The Cardboard Classic, Steamboat’s traditional rite of spring, will return for the 38th year. This wild and hilarious race features homemade cardboard crafts racing down Stampede. Steamboat will wrap up another ski season with the Splashdown Pond Skimming Championships, inviting brave skiers and riders in costume to cross an icy pond in pursuit of glory and prizes for the best costume, distance, style, crowd response and air.
Rock the Boat Concert Series (April 14-15)
The 19th Annual Bud Light Rock the Boat Free Concert Series will wrap up the Steamboat season with two free concerts, hosted on the Steamboat Stage in Gondola Square, starting at 3:30 p.m. each day. For more information, visit www.steamboat.com.
Last Week Lift Ticket Discount (March 25-April 1)
During the final week of the season, Sunlight will offer two lift tickets for $80. Discount lift tickets will be available for purchase on Sunlight’s website beginning March 25.
Easter Sunday Sunrise Service, Yard Sale and Live Music (April 1)
The Easter Sunrise Service for skiers and riders at Sunlight will be help at the top of the mountain. All attendees must have a valid lift ticket or season pass. After the service, Sunlight will host beach volleyball, live music, and the final slopeside yard sale with end-of-season deals on skis, snowboards, and apparel. Closing Day at Gorrono Ranch (April 8)
Telluride Ski Resort will host closing day festivities at Gorrono Ranch. Starting at noon, there will be a live DJ spinning tunes during the annual pond skim. Guests can stick around in the afternoon for a free concert at the Mountain Village featuring a cash bar, sunshine and live entertainment. For more information, visit www.tellurideskiresort.com.
Spring Splash (April 22)
Winter Park Resort will bring back the 50th Annual Monster Energy® Spring Splash® for its closing weekend celebrations. Skiers and riders will struggle through obstacles on the Larry Sale trail race course and attempt to skim across an icy pond to reach the finish line. Closing Weekend Celebrations (March 31-April 1)
Wolf Creek’s closing weekend will include the Wolf Creek Ski Team Invitational Super G, a full-mountain race to benefit the Wolf Creek Ski Team. During the month of April, Wolf Creek will open for weekends with weather and ski conditions permitting. For more information, visit www.wolfcreekski.com.
