Copper Mountain is closing out the 2015/16 winter season with a weekend of fun, fanfare and flare that promises to be one for the books. The annual spring festival, Sunsation presented by Dos Equis, returns on April 16-17, featuring RedBull Slopesoakers, the Eenie Weenie Bikini Contest, freelive music and more surprises. Thanks to 62 inches of snow in the month of March, Copper will be extending the season for an extra weekend of skiing and riding April 22-24.
The Most Interesting Weekend kicks off with the 5th annual RedBull SlopeSoakers on Saturday, April 16. This one-of-a-kind event combines a traditional pond skim with a slopestyle rail jam. This years event will have more features and fun than ever before. Competitors are encouraged to register in advance online at CopperColorado.com. The main event kicks off at 10:30 a.m. with prizes including cash, season passes, and GoPros. When the competition is over, the afternoon continues with free live entertainment from Duelle at 2:30 p.m., followed by headliner Far East Movement at 3:30 p.m.
Sunsation at Copper Mountain continues on Sunday, April 17 with the annual Eenie Weenie Bikini Contest. Once featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, this on-snow bikini contest allows competitors to ski or snowboard down Lower Bouncer in their beach best. Competitors will be judged on creativity and flare, with prizes including season passes, snowboards, GoPros and more. Registration is free, and will take place on Saturday from 2:30 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 12:30 p.m. The event kicks off promptly at 1:00 p.m. in Center Village. Wrap up the weekend with free live performances by Count TuTu at 2:30 p.m. and headliner My Brothers Keeper featuring John Popper immediately following.
High Fives Foundation will also be on hand on Sunday, April 17 for the 1st annual Retro Shred-a-Thon. This first to last chair skiing and snowboarding event is free for all to participate, but fundraising prior to the event is highly encouraged. Teams and individuals can sign up now online at HighFivesFoundation.org.
After Sunday, April 17 Copper will shut down the lifts, but have no fear they will spin again for an extended weekend of skiing and riding on Friday, April 22 through Sunday, April 24. In honor of 50+ inches of snow in the month of March, Copper is offering $50 lift tickets for the extended weekend only April 22-24. Pre-purchase online, or pick one up at the ticket windows at any point during the weekend. All parking lots at Copper Mountain will be freefor the extended weekend.
