Aspen Mountain Debuts with Top-to-Bottom Skiing
Aspen Mountain and Snowmass will open for the 2017-18 season Thursday, Nov. 23. Top-to-bottom skiing, 3,200 vertical feet and over 100 acres of terrain will greet skiers and snowboarders at Aspen Mountain. Snowmass Mountain will have skiing and riding available in two areas of the mountain, Elk Camp Meadows and Fanny Hill.
“We are excited to kick off a new season,” says Katie Ertl, senior vice president mountain operations, Aspen Skiing Company. “Given the recent series of storms, cold weather and the hard work of the Aspen and Snowmass Mountain crews our entire staff is ready to make Thanksgiving a memorable opening day.”
Lift tickets at Aspen Mountain are $94 a day for adults and $54 for children, teens and seniors. Sightseeing tickets are $35 for adults and $24 for children, teens and seniors and include a $10 restaurant voucher. On Aspen Mountain the Silver Queen Gondola and Ajax Express chairlift will be open as will the Sundeck and Ajax Tavern. Open runs include Silver Dip, Upper Copper, 1 & 2 Leaf, Deer Park, Spar Gulch, and Little Nell.
Lift tickets at Snowmass Mountain are $45 for skiing and riding for adults and $24 for children, teens and seniors. Sightseeing for the Elk Camp Gondola at Snowmass Mountain is free on Thanksgiving Day only. Elk Camp Meadows and Fanny Hill will be open for skiing and riding with additional terrain opening as conditions allow.
The Elk Camp Restaurant will be serving Thanksgiving favorites from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. with comfort food staples and traditional Thanksgiving cuisine.
The Ski and Snowboard Schools on both mountains will be open for ski and snowboard private and group lesson for all levels starting Nov. 23. Please call 970-923-1227 to arrange all lessons as reservations are required.
D&E and Four Mountain Sports in Aspen will also be open with ski and snowboard rentals and tuning available.
Parking is free in Aspen Nov. 23.
In addition, Snowmass will host the annual Thanksjibbing rail jam Nov. 24 at the public rail park, located on Fanny Hill. The event is open to anyone who wishes to participate. Participants under 18 will need a parent to sign a waiver.
