Arapahoe Basin Ski Area (A-Basin) will open for the 2015-16 ski and snowboard season on Thursday, October 29, 2015. After a relatively late start to winter, recent cold temperatures and a combination of manmade and natural snow finally blanketed the slopes of Summit County, Colorado. A-Basins Black Mountain Express lift will start turning at 9:00 a.m. MST to shuttle guests to mid-mountain, where they will ski down the intermediate High Noon trail.
The recent cold weather and currently snowy conditions allow for a tremendous start to the season at Arapahoe Basin, said Alan Henceroth, Arapahoe Basin Chief Operating Officer. Despite what will be a later-than-average opening, both natural snow and our snowmaking efforts have given us a great snow surface to start with. We cannot wait to have our guests back to enjoy the mountain.
Skier services starting opening day include ski and board rentals (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and retail sales in Arapahoe Sports (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Dining options include: breakfast at the Legends Caf (A-Frame), lunch service at Black Mountain Lodge at mid-mountain, and full service at the 6th Alley Bar & Grill (A-Frame). A-Basin Mug Club sales start opening day at 8:00 a.m. in the 6th Alley Bar; mugs are $45 and entitle the owner to beverage discounts in the 6th Alley Bar & Grill and a free beer to kick off the season. Mugs are sold on a first-come, first-served basis; limit one mug per customer.
