Taking Amtrak is even better while I-70/US-40 traffic worsens
In celebration of over four feet of snow that has fallen this month, Amtrak and the Winter Park Resort will be offering the discounted $29 ticket for every remaining seat on both Winter Park Express round-trips this weekend – but only for purchase during a 24-hour period.
The “Snow Sale” begins on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 8 a.m. and ends the following morning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, giving skiers/riders just 1,440 minutes to take advantage of the fare (all times Mountain). The $29 fare is usually available for a few seats on some trains, but during this sale every remaining seat this weekend is $29.
The “Snow Sale” provides a significant discount from the standard weekend round-trip of $118, with $58 round-trip tickets available for same-day travel or split between Saturday and Sunday to enjoy a weekend in the mountains. The discounted tickets are available only at Amtrak.com/WinterParkExpress.
Winter Park is also hosting the National Sports Center for the Disabled’s Wells Fargo Ski Cup this weekend, giving those with Olympic-fever a chance to watch some of the best Paralympians from around the world compete before they head to PyeongChang for the Paralympic games on March 8.
Average traffic delays of two-hours, 30-minutes have been common on I-70 and US-40 on weekends this season. So, in addition to saving time to the slopes, buyers can act fast and save money this weekend, too.
