2017 U.S. Grand Prix Returns to Copper Mountain, Dec. 11 – 17

Kevin Rolland

Athletes from around the world will go head-to-head at Copper Mountain at the 2017 U.S. Grand Prix, Dec. 11 – 17. Freeski and snowboard athletes take to the Main Vein Superpipe. The weekend will also feature big air snowboarding, a new Olympic discipline, as part of the United States Olympic Committees (USOC) Winter Champions Series.

The freeski event will be a FIS World Cup and AFP Platinum level event. The snowboard events are FIS World Cup and TTR World Snowboard Tour International level competitions. The AFP and the TTR World Snowboard Tour serve as global rider ranking systems based off of top-level events and crowns world champions in their respected sports. Dual sanctioning for both freeskiing and snowboarding creates additional value for athletes as they accrue the necessary points needed to secure spots at international competitions.

NBC will feature live coverage of the competition on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2:30 p.m. EST plus additional coverage on Sunday, Dec. 18 from 2 4 p.m. EST.
