Loveland: 19th Annual Mountaintop Matrimony More Info »

The 19th Annual Valentine’s Day Mountaintop Matrimony ceremony and reception is a Loveland tradition where new couples are joined in matrimony and married couples renew their vows in a mass wedding at The Ptarmigan Roost Cabin, elevation 12,440 feet, located at the top of Lift #2. A reception for all participants and their guests follows the ceremony at Loveland Basin featuring music, food and spirits. Registration will be in the morning and the ceremony is at 12:00pm. Participating couples must pre-register online in order to receive the 2 for 1 lift ticket special. Registration will begin at www.skiloveland.com in December 2009. Lessons in this traditional style of skiing are offered on select dates throughout the season to help improve your technique and balance for this growing, fun winter activity. Sunlight: The Endurance Challenge at Sunlight More Info »

Sunlight Mountain Resort is pleased to announce the emergence of a new and exciting endurance race named The Endurance Challenge at Sunlight. The race will challenge individuals and teams to hike up the run Rebel and ski, snowboard, snowshoe, run or slide down the run Beaujolais for a 12 hour period beginning at 8AM and ending at 8PM on Sunday, February 28th. There is a $2000 cash prize for the overall winner and other cash awards based on your category, age and the amount of entry fees collected. Trophies will be distributed to all of the top teams in their category and age group. Athletes from all over the United States and world will be invited to join locals to compete for not only cash, but for the pride and glory of competing in this unique and challenging endurance race. Live music, drink specials in the Last Turn Lounge and awards ceremony following the race will give racers, fans, friends and family plenty of reason to hang around and cheer on the racers. Registration dates, times and entry fees are TBD.

This is a stand alone course designed to introduce the recreational back-country user to basic hazard management through planning and preparation for travel in avalanche terrain. This course also introduces students to recognize human factors, select and manage appropriate terrain, make red flag observations, use safe travel techniques, and perform basic avalanche rescue. This class is 2 weekday evenings (Mar 3 & 4) in class, and 2 full weekend days (Mar 6 & 7) on snow. Cost $220

Subaru has created an event weekend dedicated to promoting a safe and enjoyable snowrider environment. Subaru’s Master of The Mountain events include free mini-lessons in the Subaru Learning Lane, Nordica demos and an insider’s look at the operations of the National Ski Patrol with an avalanche awareness and beacon training session. Free goodies and prizes surround the event as a Subaru command post is set up at the base of the mountain complete with free popcorn, hot chocolate and coffee. The first 100 Subaru drivers to enter the parking lot receive VIP treatment with front row parking right next to Lift 1. This promises to be a weekend you won’t want to miss. Participation is free to all skiers and snowboarders with a valid lift ticket

The Marmot Grind is an uphill, downhill adventure race designed to introduce new participants to backcountry skiing as well as challenge the veteran skier. Races are modeled after European randonee events with competitors beginning on foot and running to clip into their skis. Athletes skin uphill on a challenging course and race down to the finish. Race category vertical is approximately 4,500 ft, recreational 2,000ft.

After the other parks have put away the rails and dozed the jumps the Treeline Terrain Park will be ready to host an amateur slopestyle competition for snowboarders and freeskiers who aren’t quite ready to call it quits.
